There’s something wrong with all of them.
Not of course that they’d admit it themselves.
That’s the point, right? Someone had forced them
Here to this atrocious abomination of an institution.
Stuck with the loonies and crazies,
Some of whom you may know…
Now all that’s left is to survive, and pretend.
Pretend like everything is all right.
Survive the insanity there…
Inside your own iron barred window.
The bright well-groomed exterior is a mask
Holding within a hell for those stuck there.
Sit back and enjoy the ride,
The sign by the road says:
“Welcome to
The Sunnyside Institution
For the Mentally Ill & Disabled”
Welcome indeed.
